Commenting on the Chancellor of the Exchequer's speech at Labour Party Conference, Matt Wrack, General Secretary of NASUWT – The Teachers Union, said:
"We welcome today's announcement to fund new school libraries, alongside the Chancellor's commitment to providing opportunity to young people through college, apprenticeships and work placements. Reasonable adjustments must be taken into account to make sure the programme is accessible for all eligible young people.
NASUWT's The Teacher's Union is proud to announce that Matt Wrack has been elected as its new General Secretary following a ballot of the union's membership.
Voting in the nationwide postal ballot closed on 23 July 2025, with thousands of teachers casting their votes to choose the union's leader.
Commenting on the Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson's speech at Labour Party Conference, Matt Wrack, General Secretary of NASUWT's The Teacher's Union, said:
'We welcome the return of maintenance grants for disadvantaged students. Many will one day become teachers where they will serve as role models in their communities, their expert subject knowledge passed down to pupils who benefit in turn.
